Training description

A visual art teacher helps developing in young people sensitivity to and curiosity about art and culture by means of different projects.

The Bachelor’s Degree  in Visual Arts programme has therefore two goals: on the one hand, it gets students practicing different artistic disciplines and on the other hand, it aims at proposing appropriate and innovative educational tools .

Creativity, aesthetic sense, observation skills and artistic practice are skills on which the programme focuses during learning activities but also workshops and study trips.

The students are also trained to structure their educational knowledge and to create methodological strategies in order to ease their pupils’ learning and to increase their awareness of the different visual art expressions.

We train responsible teachers who are open to the world.

Summary of 3 years

Your academic background

01 1st year

The first year allows you on the one hand to get training in the numerous artistic practices and on the other hand, to discover the educational aspects of the programme.

During that first year, you will observe a first-level class in a secondary school, which you will then teach during a few hours. You will thus have to analyse your teaching.

02 2nd year

During the second year, you acquire the tools to handle a class efficiently under an experimented internship mentor’s supervision. You put the theories you learned during the first year into practice and you try innovative methodologies. You make a first return trip between theory and practice and you train your reflexivity.

03 3rd year

This year, you are responsible for a class during several successive weeks. You can now handle all the aspects of the profession: educational, artistic and administrative.

We also offer you the possibility to discover other teaching environments: special education, social advancement education, the cultural field…

You experiment artistic practices related to your final year project, which is the high point of your training programme.
